Broomfields Junior School raises more than £400 for Peace Foundation By PUPILS at Broomfields Junior School, in Appleton, have raised more than £400 for the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace. The school, on Bridge Lane, ran a fundraising and awareness day yesterday, Tuesday, as part of the Colours for Peace Day to commemorate 25 years since the Warrington bombing. 363 junior school children brought a £1 donation to wear green, blue or white clothes, with year six children and the Parent-Teacher Association holding an after-school plant sale. Thanks to all the donations, the school raised a total of £444.80 for the Peace Foundation. The children also attended a special assembly where they learnt about the meaning of peace, and decorated symbolic cards. Each child then received a daffodil, which signifies hope, and a eucalyptus, a symbol of healing. Rachel Morris Brown, head teacher, said: "We have had an amazing day celebrating 'Colours for Peace' Day. "I am so proud of all our wonderful children and the work they have completed on what 'peace' means to them and the values that they feel are so important to develop - love, peace, respect, kindness and to believe in themselves!"
