Burglar Alarm Installation

Burglar Alarms need are needed in The united kingdom, the unfortunate statistic is that a property is burgled every eight minutes. With such a small population this means your property, without correct security measures, could become a target.

Alarm installation for most homeowners is now common practice. A home that doesn’t have an alarm installed becomes easy pickings for petty thieves and experienced burglars.

Installing a quality security system goes a long way to deterring would-be burglars. A correctly signposted alarm of good quality will detect an intruder, provide a deafening audible alarm that makes it too uncomfortable to remain in the house, and notify a monitoring company so a security guard can be dispatched.

When considering the different options on the market prior to undertaking an alarm installation it’s wise to get a number of quotes. This website gives you the ability to get multiple quotes from different security companies who service your area.

You no longer need to call many different companies and wait for them to call you back. Simply enter your details and multiple companies will promptly provide you with an alarming quote. This saves you time and the hassle of making lots of inquiries to potentially questionable providers.

Alarm Installation Prices
A number of factors can affect the price of alarm installation, these are:

The access to the roof space.
The number of PIR sensors (motion detectors) you’d like installed, and the type of alarm sensors.
The type of alarm system you want to be installed.
The optional extras like remote controls, window contacts, and glass break sensors.
If you’re constructing a new home, the best time to get an alarm installation done is when the framing is up and the normal electrical wiring is being done. The whole system won’t obviously be installed, but by pre-wiring, you get the advantage of selecting the best possible spots to site your motion detectors, key-pad and control panel. The control panel should be sited in a spot that is not normally seen.

It should be noted that sometimes a normal electrician is not your best choice when having an alarm installed. The reason for this is they may not have the knowledge to site the system in the most beneficial areas, and the system they install may be cheap and nasty. Some electricians will include a cheap alarm as a drawcard to get you to give them a hiring contract. However, this can be a false economy because cheap systems often go off unnecessarily. This can end up being costly if you’re having a security guard respond to activations and will also annoy and frustrate your neighbours.

Depending on whether you choose a wireless alarm or a hard-wired security system, and the layout of your home, an alarm installation takes less than a day. The speed of installation is dictated by the number of sensors and the availability of space for cabling.

“Government policy is letting the town down” – MP

GOVERNMENT policies are holding back the economy in Warrington North, according to MP Helen Jones.
Unemployment in the constituency  is growing and is higher than the UK equivalent, she said.
“We are not making the progress the government claims we are. Here in Warrington North our unemployed claimant figure is significantly above the UK equivalent. People are simply not getting jobs. Government policies continue to let our town down.”
Ms Jones quotes the latest figures from the House of Commons Library.
These shows that the total number of unemployed claimants in Warrington North in March was 1,980 which represents 4.1 per cent of the economically active population aged 16-64. The UK equivalent rate was 3.4 per cent
The MP said: “Unfortunately the number of claimants in my constituency is 290 higher than in March 2018 and amongst young people, aged 18-24, the increase has been 60.
“Even when adjustments are made to take into account Universal Credit the figures are worse than for the same period in 2018 – 227 higher than February 2018.”

Two fined after illegal waste dumping incidents

TWO more people have been prosecuted for illegally disposing of waste, as Warrington presses on with its crackdown on fly-tipping
Dane Povey, 31, of Smithfields Street, St Helens was prosecuted for not holding a waste carrier license.
Magistrates heard that Povey was stopped in Dallam, during a multi-agency operation with Cheshire Police, while transporting a quantity of waste in the back of a white van.
He was dealt with by borough council environmental crime officers and given seven days to provide his waste carriers licence.
He failed to do so was issued with a fixed penalty notice for £300, which he did not pay.
He was then found guilty in his absence at Warrington Magistrates Court. He was fined £660 plus £66 victim surcharge and costs were awarded in the amount of £425. A 28 day collection order was given.
Members of the public who employ someone to move their waste for them also have a responsibility to ensure that whoever is removing the waste is registered. Failure to do so can lead to prosecution, a fine or even a criminal record if they don’t take reasonable measures to meet their duty of care.
In another case, the council received a report from a member of the public, who spotted a man fly-tipping from a vehicle on Silver Lane, Risley at lunch time one Saturday last year.
The fly-tipper was observed unloading the car boot of children’s toys, flower plots and other garden waste. On seeing the witness, he fled the scene.
The Environmental Crime Team served a notice on the registered keeper of the vehicle – Jennifer Hill, 28, of Heather Close, Birchwood – to ask her who was driving the vehicle at the time of the fly-tipping.
Although Ms Hill didn’t provide the identity of the fly-tipper, Ms Hill was subsequently prosecuted for not providing those details. Ms Hill pleaded guilty and received a £120 fine, plus £30 victim surcharge and costs awarded in the amount of £350.
After the hearings, Cllr Judith Guthrie (pictured), the council’s lead member for public protection said: “These two cases are the latest examples of the work we’re doing to clamp down on people whose irresponsible actions blight the streets of our borough. We will always take action against people who are operating without the correct licenses or fly-tipping in our communities.
“The public can make a real difference by providing our environmental crime team with information about those fly-tipping or disposing of waste illegally.”

Town Talk: Do or die for Warrington Town as play-offs get underway

WARRINGTON Town have got to win three games in the next 11 days to secure promotion to National League North.

First up tonight (Tuesday) is Nantwich Town, their Cheshire rivals who they have failed to beat in six league meetings since promotion to the Premier Division in 2016.

If the game is as entertaining as the last meeting, back in February, fans are in for a treat.

In that game, Nantwich led 3-1 after just 34 minutes, having also missed a penalty, and went in 3-2 to the good at half-time.

Tony Gray’s injury-time equaliser rescued a 3-3 draw for the Yellows, who lost the reverse fixture 2-1 back in October, one of only six defeats all season.

Nantwich had been up at the top of the table for two thirds of the season, before falling away in the run-in that saw Warrington come third in a three-horse race behind eventual champions Farsley Celtic and play-off favourites South Shields.

The Dabbers sat top of the pile for 11 weeks during the season, albeit having played a few games more, while the Yellows sat top for three weeks in total.

For the past few weeks, Nantwich have been gearing up for the play-offs having been cut adrift by the top three, but boasting enough points to know they weren’t at risk from those behind them.

That meant a skeleton team took to the field for a 7-3 reversal in their final game at Basford United on Saturday, when at the same time Warrington took the opportunity to rest a few of their big-hitters in a 2-2 draw at Buxton.

It’s a tough one to call. Home advantage and their league placing will have Warrington as favourites, but there is something about Nantwich that they haven’t been able to figure out in the past few seasons.

The 2016/17 saw 4-1 and 3-2 defeats for the Yellows, while last season was only marginally better with a 2-1 defeat and 0-0 draw.

Warrington have a play-off monkey on their backs to shrug off too – after finishing third last season, they were humbled 3-0 at home by Grantham Town in a disappointing home semi-final when Paul Carden’s team had simply ran out of steam and bodies.

Their only other play-off experience in recent memory was also a bad one, suffering a 1-0 home defeat to Bamber Bridge when in NPL First Division North back in 2014.

Nantwich’s last foray in to the play-offs came two seasons ago, when they finished fifth to qualify for the first time in eight years.

They lost at the first hurdle too, 2-0 against Spennymoor.

The prize for the winner is likely to be a visit to South Shields in the final on Saturday, though the north east side must get past Buxton first.

Winning the play-offs this season unfortunately doesn’t secure automatic promotion – instead a “super play-off” will be played against the play-off winners from the Southern Central League, with Stourbridge and King’s Lynn the favourites to make that one.

Ones to watch for Nantwich are the league’s Young Player of the Year Joe Malkin up front, and creative midfielder Sean Cooke, who was named in the league’s Team of the Year alongside Yellows pair Mark Roberts and Dave Raven.

It would be a real shame for the Yellows if their efforts over the past two seasons, consecutive third place finishes, didn’t result in a genuine tilt at promotion this term.

Warrington Town vs Nantwich Town kicks off at 7.45pm tonight (Tuesday) at Cantilever Park. Tickets are available on the door at £10 for adults, £6 for concessions and £2 for under 16s.

Investigation into cause of Woolston Grange blaze

AN investigation is under way into the major fire which firefighters spent most of yesterday fighting on the Woolston Grange industrial estate at Warrington.
Fire officers were co-operating with local authority building inspectors, local businesses, gas and electricity engineers.
The fire started in Rivington Court at about 11.30am and at its height eight fire engines were involved in the battle.
It spread from one unit to others in the same block, police closed surrounding roads and nearby residents were advised to stay indoors and keep windows closed.
A tactical plan for the demolition of the most severely damaged building is now being discussed and salvage operations have started.
There were no reports of injuries, although firefighters treated one person for smoke inhalation.
Staff at most of the firms in Rivington Court were able to return to work today, but a number had to stay away.
The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed.

MP hosts housing summit in Warrington South

WARRINGTON South MP Faisal Rashid hosted a housing summit to discuss some of the pressing housing issues facing the constituency.
He chaired the event, at Bold Street Methodist Church and the panel included Shadow Housing Minister Sarah Jones, leader of Warrington Borough Council Russ Bowden, Torus chief executive Steve Coffey and the founder of the National Leasehold Campaign, Katie Kendrick.
Over the last nine years, private rents have soared, rough sleeping has more than doubled, home-ownership is down sharply for young people with almost 900,000 fewer young homeowners since 2010 and 30,000 fewer social rented homes built a year.
Mr Rashid organised the event as a forum to discuss any local housing concerns – and to give residents the opportunity to put their questions to the panellists.
Sarah Jones, talked about the steps Labour would take to address the various issues in Government.
Panellists talked about a wide range of issues, including the need for more social and affordable housing, the leasehold scandal and Warrington Borough Council’s Local Plan. An audience question and answer session followed the panellists’ contributions.
Afterwards, Mr Rashid said: “Across the country, we are facing a housing crisis. Many people are struggling to afford to rent or to buy a decent home. This is leading to overcrowding, evictions, rent arrears and homelessness. Tackling the housing crisis is one of the most pressing issues of our time. Public concern about housing is now around the highest level it has been in 40 years.
“Many people are finding that however much they save, it is getting harder to buy that first home. However many hours they might work or how much more they earn, rents still eat up more of their pay. And for those who do manage to buy a first home, many are finding themselves trapped in costly leasehold agreements. Over the last nine years, the Government has failed to tackle these housing problems.
“The summit was a good opportunity to hear directly from local residents about their housing concerns.  I will be feeding the comments raised throughout the event back to the Government for a response, to the Council in response to the Local Plan consultation and back to the Labour Party to help shape housing policies coming forward. And as the local MP I will continue to campaign for action on these crucial housing issues.”

Wolves stars support cancer awareness campaign

PLAYERS from Warrington Wolves are backing a regional awareness campaign from North West Cancer Research, as it is revealed head and neck cancer rates in the region are among some of the worst in the UK.
Jason Clark, Stefan Ratchford, Ryan Atkins and Chris Hill from the club’s first team have joined other famous faces across the North West to launch the charity’s #SpeakOut head and neck cancer awareness campaign.
Cancer experts are urging men across Warrington to be more vigilant when it comes to the early warning signs of head and neck cancers, as rates rise across the region.
In Warrington the number of people being diagnosed with this type of cancer is significantly higher than elsewhere in the UK.
Averages across the Cheshire and Merseyside region show that 16.24 per 100,000 of cases are diagnosed each year, compared to 13.2 per 100,000 across the UK as a whole.1
Professor Terry Jones, Director of the North West Head and Neck Centre, which draws together world class research and medical expertise to provide the best possible results for patients locally, is working with charity North West Cancer Research, to help tackle these rising head and neck cancer rates.
Research conducted by the team has revealed that men are three times more likely to be diagnosed with head and neck cancer.
Professor  Jones said: “The growing number of people in this region being diagnosed with head and neck cancer is likely to be caused by patients – men in particular – ignoring early symptoms and signs of their disease.
“This means that when they present, their tumours are more advanced, making treatment more difficult and reducing the chances of it being a success.
“We are still unsure why men, more than women, are ignoring the early warning signs, but by working with North West Cancer Research, we hope to raise awareness of the symptoms and show the importance of patients visiting their GP as soon as they possibly can.”
Symptoms which are associated with head and neck cancer include – but are not limited to – a persistent sore throat, a feeling of a lump in the throat, mouth ulcers that have not healed after 3-4 weeks, a hoarse voice that persists longer than three weeks, blood in your spit and difficulty swallowing.

Students given a leg up on the career ladder

WARRINGTON students Sadie Jones and Adam Covell have been given a leg up on the career ladder as part of a ground-breaking special educational needs internship at state-of-the-art care village, operated by not-for-profit care provider, Belong.
They, and other students, will now benefit from improved life chances and greater workplace opportunities as a result of the scheme.
Sadie, 18, who attends Green Lane Community School in Woolston, and 20-year-old Adam, a student of Warrington and Vale Royal College, are both undertaking the “supported internship”, a government initiative designed to help young people with learning difficulties or disabilities gain the skills and experience needed to achieve full-time employment.
Belong Warrington is a chosen employer for the programme and has been working alongside local schools and colleges since 2017, to provide students with personalised and meaningful placements.
Sadie, who showed an interest in social care from an early age, has helped to run Belong Warrington’s vibrant activities programme three times a week.
She said: “Working at Belong has changed my life. I go home every day with a big smile on my face, and for the first time, I know exactly what I want to do, which is to pursue a career in care. And I hope to apply for a permanent position at the village when I finish school.”
Belong have also arranged for her to undertake a two-day dementia training course at the village.
Meanwhile, Adam is enjoying his placement at the village’s hair salon. He said: “This hands-on experience has helped me improve my technical skills and given me the confidence to challenge myself to learn more. It is great work experience in a friendly environment, I would definitely recommend it to other students.”
Stephen Capper of Green Lane Special School, commented: “Belong understands the employment problems faced by young people with special educational needs and really embraces the programme to provide students with much sought after work experience and training. As a result, we see a change in the focus, attitude and commitment of these students and I have no doubt they will go on to have successful careers.”
Rebecca Woodcock, acting manager at Belong Warrington, said: “It’s a pleasure to work alongside these students. Not only do they bring new and innovative ideas to the village, but they also build genuine relationships with our residents. We are really proud to be chosen as a flagship organisation for the supported internship programme and look forward to providing more top quality placements going forward.”
Supported internships are open to young people aged 16-24 years old with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan. The educational establishments involved are now welcoming applications for the next academic year.

Major fire breaks out on industrial estate

UPDATED: A total of 10 fire engines were involved in fighting a major fire at Woolston Grange, Warrington this morning.
The blaze broke out shortly before 11.30am at Rivington Court and involved an industrial warehouse.
The blaze involved a large fire, with the roof of the bulding well alight and flames spreading to a number of neighbouring units.
A full evacuation of Rivington Court was ordered and a small cordon was put in place.
Four firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus used three hose reel jets to tackle the fire.
Residents in the local area were advised to keep their windows and doors closed as a precaution.
At the peak of the blaze 10 fire vehicles were in attendance from Warrington, Birchwood, Stockton Heath, Chester and one pump from Greater Manchester, along with an aerial platform from Lymm.

The blaze involved a warehouse about 20 metres square, part of a terraced row of industrial units, all of which have been evacuated.

Firefighters worked hard to prevent the fire from spreading to any further units by creating a fire break. This involved damping down neighbouring properties with hose reel jets to prevent the fire from taking hold.

Police were also in attendance and Hardwick Grange was closed to traffic while the incident is being dealt with.

Ambulance were also at the scene, with one casualty suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.

Building inspectors from the local authority have attended at the scene.

A tactical plan for demolition is being formulated.

'Game of Thrones' fans were stunned by the biggest death of the series

TwitterFacebook

Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 3.

Game of Thrones fans around the world were stunned at the end of the Battle for Winterfell.

The entirety of Episode 3, Season 8 of Game of Thrones had a tremendous amount of tension, beautifully built up through nearly 80 minutes of battle scenes and beloved characters fighting for their lives. All of that tension released in the last 10 minutes of the episode as Arya Stark stabbed the Night King and ended the onslaught of undeath on Winterfell.

While there was plenty of death at the Battle of Winterfell, including the heartwrenching demise of Theon, Beric, and the heroic Lady Mormont, the most impactful demise of the season, if not the series, was that of the Night King. Read more...

Apple defends its takedown of some apps monitoring screen-time

Apple is defending its removal of certain parental control apps from the app store in a new statement.

The company has come under fire for its removal of certain apps that were pitched as tools giving parents more control over their children’s screen-time, but that Apple said relied on technology that was too invasive for private use.

“We recently removed several parental control apps from the App Store, and we did it for a simple reason: they put users’ privacy and security at risk. It’s important to understand why and how this happened,” the company said in a statement

The heart of the issue is the use of mobile device management technologies in the parental control apps that Apple has removed from the app store, the company said.

These device management tools give  control and access over a device’s user location, app use, email accounts, camera permissions and browsing history to a third party.

“We started exploring this use of MDM by non-enterprise developers back in early 2017 and updated our guidelines based on that work in mid-2017,” the company said.

Apple acknowledged that the technology has legitimate uses in the context of businesses looking to monitor and manage corporate devices to control proprietary data and hardware, but, the company said, it is “a clear violation of App Store policies — for a private, consumer-focused app business to install MDM control over a customer’s device.”
