WARRINGTON Market is set to open on Good Friday for this first time this century!
It will be the first time the Market has opened on Good Friday since 1998. The decision to open is a first step towards modernising the way the market trades, opening on Good Friday in line with virtually every other market in the country along with supermarkets and shopping centres.
Market Manager Andy Ward said: “We cannot afford to be closed when our competitors are open and when the new market comes along we will look to fundamentally change the hours of operation to reflect modern shopping trends.
“Customers who work full time want to be able to shop on Sunday, evenings and even bank holidays and with a major cinema being part of the new development the food court is likely to remain open to match the cinema’s hours.”
On Good Friday the market will being having craft events and a possible visit from Wolfie, along with a competition to win tickets for the Warrington Wolves versus Widnes Vikings derby match later the same day.
Meanwhile Warrington Market will welcoming Dr Who and his “Out of this world” experience tomorrow, Saturday, when visitors will get a chance to meet the travelling Time Lord and some his enemies including Daleks!
