SCOUTS at Stockton Heath have launched a research programme to find out more about the local soldiers who gave their lives in two World Wars.
Stockton Heath Scout Group hopes their project will help make this year’s World War 1 anniversary remembrance service at St Thomas’ Church a very special occasion.
The project will bring meaning to the names read out at the Cenotaph each year and engage with the local community.
The group need help in uncovering stories and memorabilia and anyone who can help can get in touch via the web site http://stocktonheathscouts.org.uk/home-3/ or contact Milton Wimpenny, Cub Scout Leader, at milton.wimpenny@gmail.com
As well as researching 126 names, the group is to hold community events and will be actively supporting the Parish Council in their own commemoration.
The Group is also applying to the Heritage Lottery Fund for a grant to produce videos, booklets and permanent touring displays for a truly lasting heritage.
