WITH three weeks to go until the new season gets underway, Warrington Town were held to a 1-1 draw at Ashton Town on Saturday.
The Yellows open up the new Evo-Stik Premier League season with a home game against Farsley Celtic on August 18 and there’s work to do before then.
Manager Paul Carden has used the pre-season friendlies to look at several potential new signings as he looks to re-build a squad that has been hit by player departures to a higher level.
Five trialists were named in the starting line-up against the North West Counties League side, and the Yellows fell behind inside five minutes to a Brad Smart penalty.
Striker Tony Gray equalised for Warrington in the second half, but later missed a penalty that would have won the game.
The scheduled friendly against Bangor City on Tuesday night has been postponed.
