Kitchen blaze tackled by householder

FIRE broke out in the kitchen of a flat in Mersey Street, Warrington today – but was extinguished by the occupants.
Fire engines from Warrington and Birchwood arrived at the scene to find the blaze, involving an oven, was already out.
They used a ventilation unit to remove smoke from the property and were detained at the scene for only about 20 minutes.
